Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

For the cream topping:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Optional:

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blueberry filling
    In a saucepan over medium heat, combine blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Stir gently and cook for about 5–7 minutes until the mixture thickens and becomes jam-like. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  2. Make the dough
    In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Add milk and melted butter, then mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Prepare the cream mixture
    In another bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth and creamy.
  4. Assemble the dessert
    Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
    Spread the blueberry filling evenly in a greased baking dish.
    Take small pieces of dough and place them over the blueberries, leaving small gaps.
  5. Add the cream topping
    Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the dough pieces. If desired, brush the dough with beaten egg for a golden color.
  6. Bake
    Bake for 25–30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  7. Serve
    Let it cool slightly. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top and serve warm.

Serving idea:
This dessert tastes amazing with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
