Chocolate Caramel Pecan Bars

★Ingredients

For the crust:

2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour

1 cup (200 g) brown sugar

1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, softened

For the caramel layer:

1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk

1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar

1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter

1/4 cup (60 ml) light corn syrup

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the topping:

2 cups (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate

1 cup (120 g) chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, and softened butter until it forms a crumbly mixture.

Press the crust mixture evenly into the baking dish and bake for 10–12 minutes or until lightly golden.

  1. Make the caramel layer:

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, granulated sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Stir constantly until the mixture thickens (about 8–10 minutes).

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour the caramel evenly over the baked crust.

  1. Add the chocolate and nuts:

Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot caramel layer. Let sit for 2–3 minutes, then gently spread the melted chocolate with a spatula.

Sprinkle the chopped pecans (or walnuts) on top of the melted chocolate.

  1. Set and serve:

Let the dessert cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate until the layers set.

Cut into bars and serve.
