★Ingredients

1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar, plus extra for coating

1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened

2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

★Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. If you like, add vanilla extract for extra flavor.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually mix in the flour and salt until a dough forms. Be careful not to overmix; you want the cookies to stay tender and crumbly.
  4. Shape the Cookies: Roll small pieces of dough into balls and then flatten them slightly to create a round shape. Use a fork to press down gently, creating lines or patterns on the surface.
  5. Bake: Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until they are lightly golden around the edges.
  6. Coat with Sugar: Once out of the oven and while still warm, roll the cookies in granulated sugar for a sweet coating.
  7. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Enjoy your homemade sugar-coated cookies!
