Crispy Fried Mushrooms
Ingredients:
- 500g (1 lb) button mushrooms, cleaned and halved
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Oil for frying
For dipping (optional):
- Ranch dressing or garlic aioli
Instructions:
- Prepare mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel and cut them in half if they are large.
- Set up dredging station:
- In one bowl, place the flour.
- In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
- In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Coat mushrooms:
Dip each mushroom first in flour, then in egg, then in the breadcrumb mixture. Press to coat well. - Fry:
Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the mushrooms in batches until golden brown and crispy (about 3–4 minutes). Don’t overcrowd the pan. - Drain:
Remove mushrooms and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil. - Serve:
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
