Crispy Fried Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 500g (1 lb) button mushrooms, cleaned and halved
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Oil for frying

For dipping (optional):

  • Ranch dressing or garlic aioli

Instructions:

  1. Prepare mushrooms: Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel and cut them in half if they are large.
  2. Set up dredging station:
    • In one bowl, place the flour.
    • In a second bowl, beat the eggs.
    • In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat mushrooms:
Dip each mushroom first in flour, then in egg, then in the breadcrumb mixture. Press to coat well.
  4. Fry:
Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the mushrooms in batches until golden brown and crispy (about 3–4 minutes). Don’t overcrowd the pan.
  5. Drain:
Remove mushrooms and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
  6. Serve:
Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
