Chocolate Cake Batter Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 and 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (65g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) boiling water or hot coffee (for richer flavor)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pans.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add wet ingredients: Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Beat with a mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
- Add hot water/coffee: Slowly mix in the boiling water or hot coffee. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay—it makes the cake moist.
- Pour into pans: Divide the batter evenly between your prepared pans.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool before removing from pans and frosting.
